Over the next few months we’re running a new experiment called Colab, a forum where product professionals can come together to share and collaboratively solve their career challenges (register here to join upcoming cohorts in 2021).

Like us, you might find it hard to dedicate time to collaborate, learn and establish long term relationships with other product professionals. And that there isn’t a forum to build trust with product peers to safely share collective experiences that help solve your career challenges.

We’ve faced our own professional challenges in our product experiences at Xero, Hootsuite, Trade Me and Roam. Many we solved working closely with peers and that got us thinking, how we could create an intimate community of learning for people working in product?

This is why we are creating COLAB — a learning and support community for product professionals

COLAB will bring together small hand-picked cohorts who work together to generate meaningful discussion, collaboration and outcomes in areas such as leadership, product discovery and strategic thinking.

Cohorts will spend 6 weeks together, supported by facilitators and a framework to drive clear direction and outcomes. After the 6 weeks, your cohort will have the opportunity to meet for on-going collaboration and discussion and continue to meet once a month as a group.

So join us, bring your challenges and knowledge, experience first-hand the most important problems of other product peers, and resolve them together.

How Will COLAB Work?

Over 6 weeks, a cohort will meet to tackle new problems and concepts proposed by cohort members and facilitators, giving you;

  • 12 hours of dedicated face time with a hand-picked cohort working to solve key career challenges together.
  • Facilitated group sessions by product professionals to drive meaningful outcomes for you.
  • The opportunity to network and learn from other experts in product to build a library of ideas, frameworks and outcomes created with your cohort to use in your current role.

Important things you should know

Limited Spots: You must apply to be accepted into our first cohort. Each cohort is restricted to 12 hand-picked individuals. We will keep groups small, diverse and intimate, in order to bring the right people together. Our first cohort is focused on people who have worked in product teams in New Zealand.

Format: We will meet on Zoom for two hours a week on a specific day. Facilitators will come prepared to guide the conversation and support members during each session and online during the week. Throughout, your cohort will create a library of all the ideas, frameworks and outcomes which you can access any time.

Time Commitment: Each cohort lasts for 6 weeks. We will meet once a week on a specific evening for two hours (12 hours in total). In between each meet you’ll have access to an exclusive Slack channel where you can further collaborate with everyone on specific topics.

After the 6 weeks, your cohort will have the opportunity to continue the collaboration and discussion and continue to meet once a month as a group. You’ll also be first in line to hear about upcoming COLAB workshops.
